Spotify: Best we can do is shuffle 5 artists at a time. 💀
“society has made many advancements…but…”
According to a leaker within Spotify, their best shuffle scientists can only get the algorithm to shuffle 5 artists at a time, even if you have 5,000 songs in your playlist.
Here's what she had to say:
“Yes society has made many advancements as far as processing power and algorithms but unfortunately the best we can do is shuffle 5 music artists at a time. Sorry! For instance, if you have a playlist of 5,000 songs it will only play The Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Bon Jovi, and Bruno Mars. Weirdly we can't get it to play the other obscure musicians you want to listen to. Just the ones that make tons of money!"
According to other leakers, they said a giant leap in processing is necessary. Most likely involving quantum, crypto, ai, or something like that. We’d like to tell you what it was but I kinda zoned out while they were talking to me.

Question…
Have you noticed this? I feel like it plays the same artist or genre over and over despite having a huge playlist.

Every programming platform ever invented has a random() function. You take all the tracks in the playlist, or in my case, the library on my phone. You put them in random order, and play them. That's it.
Anyone who tells you this is hard is just trying to sell something. I don't want any smart algorithm picking songs for me; I just want all my stuff, randomly.
Apple Music is worse. “I see you’ve requested to hear less of Tom Petty’s ‘Free Falling,’ a song that makes you want to throw your phone into a well and return to the once-noble career of ‘mammoth hunter’? Great! We’ll only play it three times an hour? Don’t want to hear it at all? Let’s sneak five live versions onto your playlist? Oh, that doesn’t work for you? How about covers from bands that make you want to blow up the sun? You WILL listen.”
